ABOUT

FARAD CREATIVE

We’re creative video and technology specialists for live music. Farad Creative was born out of the idea of being more than one person, bringing Nick together with the close collaborators and friends he works with most.

We cover screens producing, design, technical consultation and project delivery.

THE NAME

Farad was Nick’s grandad: Farad Edward Whitehead, named after the physicist Michael Faraday. It’s a middle name for both Nick and his dad.

Fittingly, a farad is also the unit of capacitance. Stored energy, waiting to be used.

NICHOLAS WHITEHEAD

Founder

I’ve been working on shows since I was eleven, starting with school productions and amdram. Regular trips to West End shows turned it from a hobby into a career.

At seventeen I left school for Technical Theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon College, while working part time at The Mill Arts Centre in Banbury.

At twenty I went freelance with Dragonfly Lighting, while working in house at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and Heaven in Charing Cross. A different artist every night is the fastest education there is.

In 2019 I joined Adlib, first as a technical manager and then in project management. I went back to freelance in 2023, and in 2024 I set up Farad Creative.

Twenty years in, the best bit is still the moment the house lights go down.
